Hand wash separately in cold water for the first few washes, as naturally dyed cotton can release a little colour. Use a mild, pH-neutral liquid detergent. Do not bleach. Line dry in shade to keep the terracotta shade even. Warm iron on the reverse if needed, avoiding the embroidered panels.
Some colours carry the ground with them. Gerua is the earthy terracotta of red ochre, the warm soil and temple walls of Rajasthan that wanderers have worn for centuries. This dress holds that shade lightly.
The Gerua Dress is cut from breathable cotton in one relaxed A-line silhouette that falls to the knee. Black geometric embroidery traces the buttoned placket, the gathered cuffs and the hem in a fine hand-worked border of zigzag chevrons. Long balloon sleeves, a rounded neckline and an adjustable waist tie let you shape it to your mood, cinched or left loose.
