For centuries, people across India and far beyond have worn gemstones not only for their colour, but for the stories attached to them. In our workshop, each stone is chosen first for how it looks against brass, silver and hand-printed cotton. The meanings come with it, carried down through tradition.
A note before you read: the meanings below are cultural and spiritual traditions. They are not medical claims, and gemstones are not a substitute for medical care.
Tiger Eye
Golden to red-brown, with a silky band of light that moves as you turn it. In many traditions tiger eye is linked with focus, courage and staying grounded, which is why it is a favourite for pieces worn every day. You'll find it in our Cash Necklace.
Turquoise
One of the oldest stones in human adornment, from the Silk Road to the American Southwest. Its sky-to-sea blues are traditionally associated with protection on journeys, friendship and calm communication. See it set in our Turkish Bracelet.
Amethyst
A purple variety of quartz. The ancient Greeks named it and linked it with a clear mind; later traditions connected it with spiritual wisdom and peaceful sleep.
Labradorite
Grey at first glance, then a flash of blue, green or gold when light hits it. Folklore calls it a stone of transformation and intuition, fitting for a stone that changes as you look at it.
Red Jasper
An earthy, brick-red stone found worldwide. Often called the stone of endurance, it is traditionally associated with stamina, steadiness and courage.
Onyx and Black Obsidian
Two deep blacks with different origins: onyx is a banded chalcedony, while obsidian is natural volcanic glass. Both have long been worn as symbols of protection and of shielding yourself from negativity.
Opal
Known for its play of colour, opal has stood for hope, creativity and good fortune in many cultures.
Choosing a stone for yourself
There's no wrong way to choose. Some people pick the colour that suits their wardrobe, others the meaning that speaks to them right now. Our pieces are made in small batches, so stones and settings change from season to season. Browse what's available today in our gemstone collection.
