There is a Persian word for the moment a handful of roses lets go: gulrez, the scattering of flowers. Here the roses are stitched instead of strewn. A slender vine of deep red blooms and green leaves climbs the front placket, and the same motif returns as an embroidered border along both sleeve hems.

The cloth is cotton slub in natural off-white, a weave with the fine irregular slubs that give textured cotton its grain. It reads soft and matte in daylight, holds a quiet texture up close, and stays breathable through Indian summer. The mandarin collar sits clean against the throat, the short sleeves fall just above the elbow, and a full placket of wooden-tone buttons closes the front.
