Gentle hand wash separately in cold water. Natural dyes may release a little colour in the first rinse; this is normal for authentic non-synthetic dyes. Do not bleach. Dry in shade away from direct sunlight. Warm iron on the reverse if needed.

Stripes that carry the sun. The Surya Rekha Shirt takes the straight, rhythmic line of a vertical stripe and sets an embroidered sun on each chest pocket, then returns to it across the back in a full medallion panel framed by a border of tiny stylised figures.

Why it feels different in the hand

Cut from cotton slub, a yarn with a softly uneven surface, the shirt has texture you notice before you notice the print. It stays light through a long day, breathes in Indian heat, and holds its shape without stiffness. The maroon and ivory stripes are deep rather than bright, so they read tailored in daylight and warm under lamplight.

The construction is straightforward and honest. A classic point collar, a full button placket, twin patch chest pockets with the sun worked in thread, and striped cuffs with a two-button closure. The fit is relaxed through the body with a straight hem, which keeps it comfortable untucked over a dhoti or a plain cotton pant.

How to wear it

Let the shirt be the whole story. Pair it with an ivory dhoti or mundu and bare feet sandals for a temple visit, a pooja at home, Onam, Pongal or a wedding function. For an easier day, wear it with wide cotton trousers in ecru or charcoal, sleeves rolled once, and leather sandals. The sun embroidery earns its place in photographs, so keep everything around it quiet.

The Surya Rekha Shirt is finished by hand in our Rajasthan workshop, where each embroidered sun panel is set and checked individually. Available in S, M, L, XL, XXL and XXXL, and true to size with room to move.

Free shipping applies to all prepaid orders over Rs. 2999. For orders below this amount, a flat shipping fee of Rs. 50 applies. To ensure your items arrive as quickly as possible, we ship all packages via air.

For orders within India, your order will be processed and shipped within 2-4 days, with expected delivery in about a week. International orders are shipped via air and typically arrive within 7–14 business days, depending on your location and local customs processing.
