Description
The Koothu Kathakali Shirt is a printed cotton shirt featuring a screen-printed Kathakali performer. Available colour options include natural, black and red. Contrasting artwork and ornamental details draw on the visual storytelling of this Indian performance tradition.
Half sleeves and a relaxed fit make it easy to wear for cultural gatherings, holidays and everyday outings. Pair the Kathakali print shirt with plain trousers to keep the illustrated panel in focus.
- Cotton slub fabric
- Screen-printed Kathakali artwork, not embroidery
- Half sleeves with printed borders
- Chest pocket and natural-look wooden buttons
- Relaxed fit; natural, black and red colour options
How is the design applied? The performer and ornamental artwork are screen printed onto the fabric, rather than embroidered or hand block printed.

Care & Craft
Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent, or machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Wash separately for the first few washes: hand-printed and naturally dyed fabrics can release a little colour at first, which is normal.
Do not bleach, soak or wring. Dry in the shade, inside out, to protect the colours. Iron on medium heat on the reverse side. Natural fibres soften with every wash, and slight shrinkage after the first wash is normal.
Handmade by artisans in Jaipur, India. Small variations in colour, print and finish are part of each piece's character, not defects.
